Model-Based Control of SMA-Actuated System

I have been developing the model-based control strategy of the shape memory alloy (SMA) actuated structures. SMA is a promising active material for the actuation of aerospace structures. However, SMA inherits nonlinearity and hysteresis due to the material phase transformation, making it challenging to design an effective control strategy. My research focuses on developing a model-based control strategy with SMA actuators.

This research is collaborative research with Multifunctional Materials and Aerospace Structures Optimization Laboratory (M2AESTRO Lab.) led by Dr. Darren Hartl at Texas A&M University.
