CanSat and Hybrid Rocket Project

A CanSat is a simulation of a satellites or planetary exploration rover which is designed almost as large as a drink can or a tomato can. This is intended to get hands-on experience of developing space systems, a CanSat has similar subsystems that are installed in real satellites and rovers including power management, communication, sensors and actuators. I had been a project manager of CanSat project and taken initiative in CanSat development and also worked on the embedded systems and control software of its subsystem.

Hybrid rocket is one type of rocket propellant system that uses liquid or gas oxidant and solid state fuel (motor). This type of rocket is widely used among Japanese university students’ project. I had been working on Tohoku University’s team and developed avionics, electric systems installed inside the rocketry and software.

Skills acquired through this project is definitely helpful in my current research project as well as this gave me an opportunity to learn more about space systems.
